Essential Oils For Dogs In This New Decade:

Essential oils aren’t merely a ‘trend.’ They’ve been used since biblical times, and are most times ingested or applied topically. Over 3,000 varieties of essential oils have been identified to date! Only in the past 30 years have we seen an insurgence and demand for these pure, therapeutic essential oils that offer calming and invigorating smells via aromatherapy. But…we all know buying essential oils separately from expensive network marketing companies! So we’ve done the work for you so you don’t have to buy tons of viles of oils to make a bottle or two of DIY yourself.

While essential oils provide health benefits to humans, did you know that the majority of oils can also be used for your canine friends, too? Here’s the ‘low-down’ on essential oils and your dog, and how remarkable the results can be. As the culture moves towards more of a “preventative” approach to health (because of the overwhelmed health system) many are turning to preventing the root issue in the first place, and not going the medical route, illiminating cost as well as harmful side effects. WE ALL KNOW VETERAINARY COSTS HAVE ALMOST DOUBLED SINCE PANDEMIC!

What Are Essential Oils, and How Do They Work?

Essential oils are naturally occurring therapeutic aromatic compounds (hydrosols) that are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Essential oils are incredibly potent and come from fragrant-giving plants. They each have a distinctive smell, such as a rose, which happens to be one of the most expensive, precious essential oils in the world. Throughout history and cultures, essential oils have aided in natural healing for humans and animals.

Even with pure essential oils, the quality of the oil can vary depending on the time of day it is harvested, the season, the weather of that year, location, method, and duration of distillation. Every step of the production process is a critical determinant of the overall quality of the essential oil product.

The physical and chemical properties of the aromatic compounds contained in essential oils allow them to quickly move through the air and directly interact with the olfactory sensors in the nose, which is why essential oils are commonly used for aromatherapy for dogs. We recommend our diffuser for this. Cold Water Diffusion is one of the best ways to apply essential oils to pets if diluted and blended for species-appropriate applications. When applied topically by either spray or on a cloth, essential oils can be applied directly to the coat (it wicks down within seconds and enters the skin and blood system sometimes dating effect within 20-30 seconds!!!) or can be applied to the skin directly.

Are Essential Oils Safe For YOUR Dog?

Absolutely, but only if used correctly! Since dogs/animals are more sensitive to essential oils than humans, you can’t just jump right in. It is a gradual process.  We realize many don’t have a veterinarian available to them with this sort of specialized information, so we have done the blending FOR you!

When you first want to introduce your dog to essential oils, it’s important to dilute the oil to test your dog’s tolerance to the oil. This is why we use information from veterinarians who understand aromatherapy and how to blend/dilute essential oils properly to ensure their safety for your pet, applying knowledge of animal physiology and SPECIES-APPROPATE formulations. Never apply essential oils “neat” or directly to a pet’s skin unless instructed by a veterinarian schooled in aromatherapy, or if blended and appropriately diluted. Our veterinarian-inspired formulations take the guesswork and study out of the picture and you can rest assured your pet will benefit physically and emotionally–which EFFECTS you, positively, the same way!

Follow our specific instructions on each bottle that are tailored to the application for each species (feline, canine)
